Video of the Week: EMP Trash Can Faraday Cage Testing in Lab

YouTube is an absolutely incredible source of information on almost anything you can think of. Every week we feature a new video related to a variety of topics such as firearms, first aid, gardening, security, food storage, water filtration….and current events.

Capt. Michaels recently suggested this YouTube regarding EMP protection. Good stuff as it suggests an inexpensive but apparently effective method for protection. Here is the thing though and I have repeatedly stated this numerous times before : No one truly knows what will work until an EMP event actually occurs.

I like the method described in the video. An additional step I would recommend is to have additional protection inside the galvanized trash can. An example of this would be to place electronic components inside an additional metal container and then place that inside the trash can.

  1. Here in NYS in the capitol of Albany Ny there is an emergency command center 8 stories underground.Makes one realize that someone knows something (like an EMP) could come at any time. I know this because I know a few people who work there in that windowless world. Arlene

  2. Arlene, most modern ECCs are underground or semi underground with earth piled up resulting in a half buried structure. Better to survive tornadoes and such. The Jewish people have a saying about secret things being done ‘in a corner.’ I find that secret things are also done in the dark and in buried rooms.

  3. Thanks for enlightening me PR . How did your fare with all the storms -you and yours were in my thoughts and prayers. Arlene

  4. Wow, had no idea Arlene. Interesting, kind of freaky if I think about it, but sure affirms what we are doing IMO.
