Rourke’s Weekly Recommendations

Every week I throw out a few recommendations on things such as movies, books, knives, flashlights – all kinds of stuff. Some of these are not related to preparedness whatsoever – rather, just stuff I like. Most are available on Amazon but not all. I have a particular fondness for movies as one of my favorite things to do is to sit back and watch a good one.

  1. My favorite movie is “A Bridge Too Far”. Since I was a paratrooper, and the movie details the largest Airborne insertion of troops in history, this flick tops them all! My favorite knife is a Swiss Army Knife, Huntsman model. Not too big to stick in your pocket, but includes valuable tools like scissors and saw. I recently found a survival knife (with the hollow handle for storage) made of one piece of steel. The Schrade SCHF1 normally goes for about $70, but I ordered it from CH Kadels/BUDK when they had a 25% off sale. I don’t do electronics, so I cannot offer an opinion there. I read Blackhawk Down 4 times, so that is probably my top book. As far as fiction goes, I use to enjoy the Tom Clancy novels: The Hunt For Red October, Clear And Present Danger and Without Remorse.
