Every week I throw out a few recommendations on things such as movies, books, knives, flashlights – all kinds of stuff. Some of these are not related to preparedness whatsoever – rather, just stuff I like. Most are available on Amazon but not all. I have a particular fondness for movies as one of my favorite things to do is to sit back and watch a good one.
Just finished the book by Ted Koppel, “Lights Out”. It is not a novel, it is the results of 18 months of investigation into what our government and the electrical industry has done or is doing in preparation for a cyber attack on our electrical grid, which in a word is “Nothing”. It tells a chilling story of how our government has planned to handle the aftermath of a shutdown of only one of our grids. Over 30 million people could be in the dark for a long time. Some of the comments he received when interviewing officials were nothing more than “flippant”. It is shocking the degree of either arrogance or ignorance some of the people displayed and that most certainly included Dept. of Homeland Security.
Take a look at the book and see if you agree that book should be included in the list. It is obviously on Amazon.
