Your SHTF “Go To” Gun Contest

Here is a simple contest……..send me a picture of your SHTF “Go To” gun and the best one will win a case of MRE’s from MealKitSupply.com.

The collapse has happened. There is no rule of law. There are roving bands of brigands and gangs. What will you use to defend your family and supplies? I am not looking for a picture of your AR-15 leaning up against your refrigerator. Somehow make it unique and interesting. Set your entry apart from the rest.

Send your contest entries to emergencycd(at)gmail.com. Make sure to include the picture and tell me a little about why you have chosen this as your SHTF gun. Your description is part of the entry.

The contest will run from June 15th through July 15th. Each entry will be presented here on ModernSurvivalOnline. Anyone entering the contest must be willing to supply their name and address should they win the Case of MRE’s from MealKitSupply.com. Shipping to the continental USA only.

Alright everyone – start sending me those pics.

Good luck.

  1. I am not sure my laser-photon-firer is classified as a “firearm” for the purposes of this contest. Can I get a ruling???

  2. Easy one, my shtf gun is a silenced 22 browning buckmark. Sounds strange? here is my reasoning. Depending on what scenario developes, One does not know if martial law will be imposed or if total breakdown will occur. a small 22 cal silenced firearm can be easily concealed and is silent to use.In the event of having to pass through road blocks , it can be hidden under a ladies dress and will pass casual searches. Ammo is tiny and can be hidden easily even a few rounds inside of watch straps etc. Once it becomes time to really man up, a carefully concealed tactical position should allow you to shoot at least one enemy combatant and thereafter help yourself to his more powerful weapon. Sounds strange but a Zombie gun will most certainly draw attention. remember the grey man goes unnoticed. In an armed confrontation concealment and tactics will serve much better than open aggression.

    • Well, IF, I “had” a silenced handgun, it would most certainly be a .22LR pistol. Greg makes valid points all around. Also, IF, I “had” a SHTF firearm, and I was traveling or “stuck” in a large metro area/suburbs, it would most likely by a PPSH43 Radom Tokarev high cap pistol. Those rounds are screaming fast, very accurate out of the Radom “pistol” (10.5 inch barrel) w/non-unfolding stock w/out an SBR tag from the ATFE. So, having a large supply of Tokarev ammo, that would be my first choice in a large metro/suburban area if I was “stuck”.
I am all in favor of one having as many handguns and rifle variants in .22LR caliber as possible. The Chechens used their .22LR “sniper” rifles in their conflict with Russia to great affect, and yes, most of theirs were indeed silenced as well. Not that I am in anyway “in favor” of the Chechen “movement” at all. Have decided that OPSEC is far better than about anything else at this point.
