What’s been put away lately……

Font Size » Large | Small

I haven’t posted additions to my survival & preparedness in awhile – so here is what I have added recently:

  • 20     Ragu Spaghetti Sauce, jars
  • 25     Spaghetti, boxes
  • 3        Water, 16 oz bottle, cases of 24
  • 12     Baked Beans, cans
  • 80     Hormel Compleats Meals
  • 10     Del Monte Pineapple, chunks, cans

Note on the Hormel Compleats Meals- I bought these at $2.00 each and used a .55 or a .75 cent coupon that doubled to $1.10 or $1.50. This means these excellent Hormel Compleats meals cost me from .50 to .90 cents each.

  • 2     Wooden matches, boxes
  • Large assortment of misc first aid supplies – band aids, cold medicines, burn cream, compression bandages, etc.
  • 2     Propane, small canisters
  • 1     Center Point Red Dot Sight for my AR
  • 1     Military Para-Cord, 100 feet

Thanks for info about Hormel meals. Bought 2, tried one, am going back for more. After months of buying and trying MREs, camping food, etc I think these are a great addition.

Great add ons. Nothing say’s prep then makings for spaghetti especially on a cold evening. I’ve not had any luck in storing canned fruit, after about six months the bottoms begin to rust and I even have a dehumidifier running in the basement. I also put all my book and wooden matches inside ziplock bags so they don’t absorb moisture.

I have not had that problem with canned fruit. Currently storing them in either a large Rubbermaid Action Packer or on heavy-duty wire shelving.

I also have put together some “firestarting” kits and used zip lock bags as well as vacuum packing to store them.

Yea – they are pretty good. I have a stack of 5 of them right now sitting behind me at work for lunches.

A little high in salt – but so cheap.

May I ask what you put in your “firestarting” kits? I’m new to all this and am gathering as much info as I can. Thanks so much!

BTW I love your post about using the Hormel Completes to make your own mre’s. Great idea!
