Went running today……

I have been working out quite a bit lately and improving my diet. I would like to loose about 20 pounds. I think physical fitness is an important part of survival as the demands placed on your body during a survival situation may be substantial.

Cardio has always been my main drawback – I hate any kind of cardio.  I have been reading about fitness and survival over at Ryan’s Total Survivalist Libertarian Rantfest. He is in the military and honestly his writings have convinced me to get cardio into my fitness plans.

So – I went running today and it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I took it easy – after warming up (which was easy – it was 98 degrees) I walked for 1.5 minutes, ran for 1 minute – and continued this for 30 minutes. For many out there – you may think that what I did was weak or not much. For me – it was a good start – now I need to keep it going.

I am planning on going on some jaunts thru the woods carrying a pack to diversify my workouts as well.

My normal workouts include some light swimming, Filipino stickfighting, and weightlifting.

Maybe Ryan can workup a cardio plan for me. Hmmmm……..

    The walk/run/walk plan is the WAY to go. Years ago, when I began training for a 10 k I did something along these lines:
