The State of the Union…..

If you watched President Obama’s State of the Union speech you likely saw what I saw: A ridiculous stream of biased and partisan rhetoric filled with half-truths or outright lies. Worst ever I have ever watched – regardless of the political party.

Man – it is frustrating but not surprising. This division in Congress and apparent division within the people of these United States is false. I have friends that are Democrats. We have far more in common than we do not. Sure we do not agree on all the issues however on many issues we do agree. You would think the same would happen in Congress. Apparently not.

Back to Obama’s State of the Union speech. The entire speech can be found HERE. What follows is what should have been said. If Mr. Obama truly cared for this country and had ANY intestinal fortitude – and wanted to see this country return to the greatness it once had…..this is what he would have said:

sotu

Mr. Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress, my fellow Americans:

I stand before you and have prepared a speech quite unlike any other I have spoken and I hope will signal a change in my administration. A change which I am here to ask the American people to demand from their representatives in Congress as well.

I have come to this podium with no intention of talking about people that I do not know  and the incredible things they have done. This is a waste of time and certainly it signals clearly a political ploy. I have no military members to talk of their heroics nor any teachers which to showcase. I have no Unions tonight that I will cow-tow to nor political organizations which to return favors. I signal today a change in politics – I will speak the truth.

Starting tonight, this chamber must speak with one voice to the people we represent: our great citizens.  I would love to stand before you like many others have and strongly announce that our Union is strong and that we can look to a future filled with lollipops and gummy bears . Unfortunately tonight, I can not.

This country is in trouble. My administration and those before me have mis-managed the peoples money so terribly that we are on the verge of owing more money than we can ever repay. In order to keep the government functioning we actually print money and borrow from ourselves. Yes – that is true. It would be just like if you could not afford your mortgage payment so you write yourself a check to cover the funds, and then a check to cover those funds, and so on. There is no real money to back those checks. Well – because we are the government we can just print more money. This is not a solution.

Government has made some serious mistakes over the last decades and change must be made.

Unemployment – The unemployment rate is just a number. The truth lies within the millions of Americans that have given up looking for work or have settled for lower wages and fewer hours. The bottom line is we have over-regulated and over-taxed  business to such a degree that it has costs jobs and wages. Businesses who earn more money pay higher wages, expand to create more jobs – and this benefits everyone. So – I am creating a bi-partisan committee made up of Congressman and business leaders to provide me with a list of recommended changes which to implement within the next 6 months to get American businesses growing once again.

Energy – We have too much dependency on foreign oil….blah….blah…..blah. Yes – you have heard this since the 70’s and little has been done to find a solution. Effective immediately I am directing the oil exploration within the borders of this great country to become a high priority. We will fast-track permits for new oil wells and natural gas drilling to get domestic sources of energy into our homes and vehicles as quickly as possible. Oh – and just prior to coming out here I just signed approval for backing the Keystone Pipeline. No more politics – just sound decisions based on what is right and makes sense for the American people.

Additionally – automobile manufactures have made amazing strides in fuel inefficiencies. For this they should be congratulated. With this in mind I would like to announce a contest: All car manufactures have one year which to create a vehicle which can AVERAGE 100 miles to the gallon, or an electric vehicle that can have a 300 mile range on one charge. The company that can bring forward the absolute best design and technology will be the winner. What do they win? The winning company will be exempt of the responsibility to pay Federal taxes…..period. This includes taxes paid by the company as well as ALL of its employees. This tax-free period will last for five years.

These energy initiatives will create less demand and more independence.

Gun Control – I get a tremendous amount of pressure from peers and organizations to ban as many firearms as possible. I am not a shooter and feel we have far too much firearm violence in this country. Regardless of my personal feelings – the decision on gun control and firearm laws rests within the individual States. Topic closed.

The question for everyone in this chamber, running through every decision we make this year, is whether we are going to help or hinder this progress.  For several years now, this town has been consumed by a rancorous argument over the proper size of the federal government.  It’s an important debate – one that dates back to our very founding.  But when that debate prevents us from carrying out even the most basic functions of our democracy – when our differences shut down government or threaten the full faith and credit of the United States – then we are not doing right by the American people.

I am pledging a promise to the American people tonight that I will not stand for any further political bickering for the sake of bickering. The leaders of the Senate and House will be meeting with me for a candid discussion on the issues. We will come to some agreements and move forward on many issues. These meetings will be broadcast LIVE on all the major news channels. I have nothing to hide.

Since I am being so up front and honest – I have another admission. Yes – I am a Muslim. I am not a radical Islamic Muslim. I knew if I was ever honest about this I would never gain political positions. I apologize for my deceit – but my deceit is no more.

In the coming months, let’s see where else we can make progress together.  Let’s make this a year of action.  That’s what most Americans want – for all of us in this chamber to focus on their lives, their hopes, their aspirations.  And what I believe unites the people of this nation, regardless of race or region or party, young or old, rich or poor, is the simple, profound belief in opportunity for all – the notion that if you work hard and take responsibility, you can get ahead. I need Americans to work hard. With this in mind I am announcing that all Unemployment Compensation will be limited to 24 months and all those recieving benefits will be drug tested. Any positives will result in loosing all benefits immediately.

One of the greatest threats to this country is the continued , growing deficit. We spend far ore than we take in and this much stop. It really is a simple math problem. We must make cuts. I am proposing difficult cuts that I need the American people to back me on. Over the next three years the Federal deficit will be balanced.  Some people will be effected more than others however it must be done. In one month I will reappear before the American people and lay out my plan.

Education is killing this country. The high school drop out rate is entirely too high and graduates today need to be prepared for more than to ask this simple question…..”Would you like fries with that?” I have created a non-partisan group of business and education leaders to make recommendations on changes to our public education systems. I am requiring that these changes will take effect and be implemented within the next three years. We do not have time to waste. Graduates will leave high school with a skill which they can enter the work force – or continue their education.

Oh – I am also implementing drug testing in all public high schools for any student that reaches a suspension-level of disciplinary action. Our tax dollars are funding their education – they will not recklessly waste that money and resources.

Healthcare is not a right – it is a privilege. With that said we live in a country filled with compassionate people. The thought of turning away someone from medical care due to not have coverage – or the right coverage – is unthinkable. My Affordable Healthcare Plan is failing. I do believe that parts of it have true value so I have asked several Congressman on both sides of the political spectrum to meet with me at Camp David to hash out a new plan which we will present to Congress – next week. Yes – next week. There is no time like the present to get things done. Dr. Ben Carson is also going to be attending and will present the plan to Congress.

My fellow Americans, no other country in the world does what we do.  On every issue, the world turns to us, not simply because of the size of our economy or our military might – but because of the ideals we stand for, and the burdens we bear to advance them.

No one knows this better than those who serve in uniform.  As this time of war draws to a close, a new generation of heroes returns to civilian life.  We’ll keep slashing that backlog so our veterans receive the benefits they’ve earned, and our wounded warriors receive the health care – including the mental health care – that they need.  We’ll keep working to help all our veterans translate their skills and leadership into jobs here at home.  And we all continue to join forces to honor and support our remarkable military families.

I have been as guilty as anyone playing political games for the sake of power and polls. Call it “waking up” or what you will but beginning now the peoples business is MY business and true change has arrived. Tomorrow I will be announcing several changes in my cabinet.  I need truly qualified candidates – rather than selections based on ethnicity, sexual preference, or a myriad of other reasons OTHER THAN those who are best qualified.

I have come to Washington to chew bubble gum and kick some ass. I am a..l…l out of bubble gum.

Believe it.

God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.

President Obama

  1. If only he wanted a united country, division is the goal. The old saying united we stand, divided we fall is the goal of this administration. God help us all…

  2. I wish it was that easy. I believe big government has gotten so out of control that nothing will ever get done again. They are completely controlled by big money and their wishes. I firmly believe if the President had stepped up to the mike and said “I do not know what you want America. You tell me. Congress, get together and bring me the bills America wants and I will sign them.” nothing would happen. There still would not be a bill passed to help this country. I think we are in big trouble.

  3. I think the Thomas Jefferson said it best, “I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical.”

  4. Why is it that any small number of ‘John Q. Publics’ can sit down at a kitchen table and actually come up with a workable, equitable and fair plan for every problem that curses this country. In the course of eggs and hash browns, the petty arguments evaporate and simple.. and sound.. actions are planned and agreed upon. You reading this know.. this is possible because not one of us has not been in one of these ‘planning sessions’. Idealistic… foolish.. Is it? Think about this one… A fellow used this analogy this week to describe ‘how’ government attempts to work.. “..we have blood poisoning from our elbow down. You can’t cure that by clipping the finger nails..”

this sort of SOTU address is the sort of thinking that comes from the kitchen table and is honest.. sound. Hope ..is eternal, I just see the reality of our current setting government as.. grim.

  5. Rourke, wonder how many of those friends voted for “o” twice? the pols are not going to “work things out” because it is not in their own best interests to do so.they are the elite, the rest of us are “fly-overs”. . . elections, at least on a national scale are a joke, a fraud , and a waste of time. Our system is dead, destroyed by the greedy selfish and evil that we, the people, allowed to be there.I see no hope or change in the future- at least not peaceful.

  6. Rourke,

It is a nice dream. But, I don’t think he ever had the good of the country in mind when he sought the job.

He didn’t mention the deficit except in passing. There was nothing about how to cut spending, or even change spending, to cut the deficit. He has no plan. If he does have a plan it isn’t to cut spending, more likely it is to increase spending to cover the expense of ObamaCare.

His PLAN for education doesn’t produce leaders and innovators, but followers and broom pushers. We need strong, robust, and demanding education to compete in the worldwide job market. How many times have you gone to a fast food restaurant and the cashier can’t make proper change? If this is what we are tuning out, how can the children of today become “upwardly mobile”?

I watched the speech, it was a speech targeted to his voting based, devoid of substance, lacking a plan for the future of our nation.

The solutions will have to come from the people, not from government. We have to push ahead and make the changes that need to happen, and then government will find itself way behind and lost as we forge ahead. Teach our children the skills they need to succeed, not to be satisfied with mopping floors and pushing fries. We can do it.

  7. He seemed to forget about Benghazi completely. Why would he do that? Oh wait. What difference does it make? Impeach the Kenyan impostor. Charge him with treason. Try him. Convict him. Prosecute him.

  8. I for one would definitely vote Rourke in 2016, trouble is there is no way a true patriot will ever be elected again in this country. All the illegals, and dead vote for the democrats, and the rest of the liberals get to vote twice.

  9. Tim; then you vote him into the county commission. Start slow and local. The people of this country have become use to the quick fix. This mess will not be repaired overnight nor nationally. The new patriots will have to grow from the grass roots. But you have to start right now! D.

  10. Amen D.
It’s taken 100+ years of progressivism to get us to this point and as much as we’d like it’s not going to be solved in one election.
We need to start now and then keep going!

  11. D and Gene, I agree with both of you, if we do not put in good people in local elections and only the elites get in the system will continue as it is now. Get out and vote.
