Thank you everyone……
I just received my 2nd Amazon.com Gift Card which came from earnings from purchases that readers made through my Amazon Survival & Preparedness Store. It was for $26.00 – and I really could use it. I have been wanting to order a couple of books and have had my eye on a knife that I would like to review. This will certainly help cover the cost.
Every little bit helps. Every order placed – even if it is not items from my store – still earns me a few pennies. If you enter Amazon through my store – then go buy a PlayStation game – it still counts.
Thanks again!!

If you could tell me…which knife are you looking at. It’s my favorite category next to books. Recently received a Ka Bar from Amazon and a Dajo from REI. Be very interested to compare thoughts on them.

Hi Kevin –
The knife I had in mind may be a bit “commercial” – but would like to check it out – Gerber Bear Grylls Survival Knife. I also would like to get a Ka Bar. I used to have a Gerber BMF Survival Knife and someday – I will own another. It may cost me $300-$400 – but I will get one – it was awesome. I wish Gerber would start making it again.

I like Gerber knives. Never had an issue with them. But then I like
knives in general. The Ka Bar is the BKT7. Feels good in
hand though it weighs a ton. More like an axe! I also picked
up the Dajo survival knife. It’s much lighter but has a decent
stiffness to it. The Bear Grylls knife looks pretty hefty and
has a good write up. I get a kick out of his show. Looking foward
to your review.
BTW… Enjoyed the review on the
Remington knife. Ordered one
today. \;^)

Kevin –
I always have liked the Gerber line. I have several of their multi-pliers and have literally beat the crap out of them – and they keep going.

Well I hope so. I picked up a couple of the new ones recently for our go bags. I wanted to try a couple of different models to see which we liked best.
Years ago I switched to Leatherman after breaking the jaws on one of the original Gerber slip jaw multi-pliers. This was one of the original flik-it models. Very upset, I really liked that tool. The Leatherman has always been a good tool. I also like the SOG basic multi-tool.
They all seem to be well made, it’s just a matter of fit and function. And the simple fact that I like collecting them, just like knives.
