10 Preparedness Supplies bought for less than $10.00 each

From Rourke: This post was originally published over at SeasonedCitizenPrepper.com. It can be seen in its original format HERE.

It doesn’t take a ton of money to get prepared. Many of us – “seasoned citizens” or not – live on a tight budget. I took a trip to my local Wally-World to check out some inexpensive supplies that can be purchased for less than $10.00.

Here are a few:

Batteries – Needed for flashlights, radio’s and any other electronic devices that may be needed in a grid down situation. Purchase alkaline and look for sales. It is also a good

Guest Post: I must be going crazy

by Dustin

I must be going crazy.  Hours spent researching solar water heaters, how to build game traps, how to make gunpowder.  Sleepless nights spent worrying about how to get to my bug-out location that does not yet exist.  Stressing over how to provide for my family when things get really bad and I don’t have enough food or water.  Just as I felt my sanity slipping away I had an epiphany.  I have no idea why or what I am prepping for.  I needed to look around at what I have and just start small.

I want

Flashlight Review: Mini 400 Lumens CREE Q5 LED Flashlight

I have a huge flashlight fetish. They are all over my house. They vary in size and power and battery size. Ever since I was a kid and my dad gave me this cool looking metal flashlight, silver in color with a switch on the side that had a button that I could press to create light – I was hooked.

Nowadays – LED rules that day. Most of all my flashlights run on AA, AAA, or CR123 batteries. Technology continues to produce brighter flashlights that run longer on smaller batteries.

Someone sent me an email and recommended one of these super

Recent preps……

What a stressful week. Flew by and now the weekend is almost over. Spent Saturday running kids around and then out for dinner with friends – then the “after-party”. I pretty much got nothing done that I had hoped for.

I have recently connected with a group of 5 like-minded individuals. We have met on a few occasions and will be doing so again this week. I am hoping that the five of us will gel – and develop a support system which will be mutually beneficial for all. What exactly is the goal of the group? That is still developing. Looks like we all live within 30

Caching Today for an Iffy Tomorrow

By S.D.

The desire to hide items is inherent in human nature. Buried treasure is the classic example. One of the most historic instances happened thousands of years ago when the Copper Scroll was hidden among the Dead Sea Scrolls near Qumran. It listed more than 60 locations where treasures were buried, along with directions on how to find them. Of course there are also the more modern infamous pirate stories. Hiding stuff was second nature to those guys.

Repost: After TSHTF – Uncommon places to find supplies

In a significant TSHTF incident—there may be a need to obtain additional supplies. This need may come from having to replenish your stocks over time. Also—you may be caught away from your cache or traveling—and need to access these valuable items.

Once the “event” occurs grocery stores will be completely out of food within hours. If there is power—lines will form and gas stations will be out of fuel quickly. The most obvious sources for certain items will already be picked thru. There are a couple of places that may get overlooked. These are Office Buildings and Manufacturing/Industrial Facilities.

Supply Review: Gunshack G2 flashlight

G2_3-500x500

I recently had an opportunity to purchase two(2)  Gunshack G2 flashlights through GearHog.com at a really good price. I love flashlights in my preparedness system I can’t have too many (along with batteries of course). Over the last decade technology has lead to flashlights getting brighter, smaller, and less expensive.  Most of my lights run off of either AA alkaline or CR123 batteries. Unique to the Gun Shack G2 is that it can run off of either – which I really like.

The G2′s arrived each individually boxes with instructions. One of the first things I noticed

Light. Probably one of the very first things a prepper considers when making a list of supplies to stock up on in case of an emergency. That famous lined, yellow notebook is brought out and at the very top “flashlights” is written, followed by “batteries”, “food”, “water”, etc.

Almost half of every single day the sun is shining on the other side of the Earth, while we bask in darkness. In today’s world due to significant technological advancements “flashlights” are shining brighter for a longer period of time than ever before.

Often overlooked when considering emergency lighting are headlamps. Headlamps

The Survival Cabinet

A survival cabinet well under way.......

Over the past several weeks I have received many emails from people that have just “woke up” and discovered prepping. Many of these folks are mom’s and dad’s and just concerned about what the future holds and want to prepare in some way for their family. Most of my contacts stress they are on a budget and are starting from scratch.

One idea that some of them have started with is putting together a Survival Cabinet.

A survival cabinet well under way…….

A survival cabinet is merely a method which to organize supplies and take inventory. Typically the basics are stored with each

New website – BestPreparednessDeals.com

I have a very special announcement……and an invitation.

Today is the official launch of a new website that I have started…..BestPreparednessDeals.com.

Like many preppers I have been trying to stock up on various supplies over the past few years. Prior to each purchase I would do a substantial amount of research to get the absolute best price possible. After all – I am on a budget like many others and try to stretch my dollars as far as possible. The purchasing power of the dollar is down while the need to purchase supplies is up. The purpose of BestPreparednessDeals is to
