I am pleased to announce that Classic Firearms out of Monroe, NC is now an official sponsor of ModernSurvivalOnline.com. I became familiar with Classic Firearms after ordering a Bear Creek Arsenal upper to complete an AR build. Their customer service was excellent and the upper arrived with no issues.
Just recently I placed another order getting a Canik TP9 SA 9mm pistol. I talked on the phone with Janet who coordinated the firearms transfer to

Hello all –
I just wanted to tell everyone “Thank You” for your support. It’s way overdue. Over the past several months traffic to ModernSurvivalOnline has remained steady and even increased slightly. I continue to post daily(often taking weekends off) and try to provide quality content. There are many preparedness blogs out there on the Information Superhighway – I appreciate everyone stopping by, hanging out and even commenting once in awhile.
Beyond visiting this site

I have heard from a few subscribers that asked if I could send out my daily posts once per week, rather than every day. They felt that their inbox is clogged up and they would rather get an email with all the posts listed weekly.
I also had a few email me and ask if I could arrange the subscription service so that they would receive an email once 5-6 posts were published, again rather

Over the past few months I have been going through somewhat of a personal transformation. No – I don’t turn green when I get angry. Rather I am finding that my perspective on things and how I deal with them has changed. Maybe I have run out of patience. Maybe my confidence level has reached a level only challenged by Mount Everest. I have grown tired of compromise. I am tired of “being nice” to

I am very pleased to announce that frequent commenter and sometime contributor John Gault has joined ModernSurvivalOnline as a Contributing Editor. His first post as Contributing Editor is also being publish today. Check it out.
So – who is John Gault? What follows are a few words that should provide some insight:
In March of 2011 my wife and I quit our jobs, cashed in our chips and left the big city

I will be AFK “away from keyboard” next week and will be posting a combination of new and old posts – and maybe a few from other sites. Email will be checked periodically so if you need to let me know something – feel free.

Take care all –
A few random thoughts:
Bunker Billy sent in a link to a great article looking at different fuels for use in a grid down situation. Check it out here – http://www.prepperlink.com/index.php/prepare/getting-started/item/139-kerosene-bug-in
It is amazing how the White House and other Progressive politicians continue to spin “success” into the Affordable Healthcare Act (ObamaCare). Talk about putting lipstick on a pig and still having a pig.
I recently mentioned that I was looking at picking

Every so often I express my views regarding politics here on ModernSurvivalOnline. Almost every time I do I get a negative comment or two – as well as a few emails stating that they do not like me offering my opinion on a preparedness site. The reasoning is generally two fold:
1. First and most often is the reader has a different opinion and is on the opposite side of the political

Hello all –
Hope this finds everyone doing well. The rest of this week I am going to be somewhat “off the grid” and will be publishing a mix of new and old posts here on ModernSurvivalOnline. I will check comments and email daily – but don’t be surprised if it takes a bit to get back to you.
I want to take this opportunity to say “Thanks” to everyone that takes any amount

This is the time of year that I do a lot of planning. Call them New Years Resolutions or Goals and Objections – regardless I tend to get pretty detailed in looking at the next year and cover all aspects of my life including finances, family, home, health, and preparedness. ModernSurvivalOnline and my other sites are not immune to my planning and I have been doing some thinking of what I can do in 2014

Currently ModernSurvivalOnline is set up that each post is fully displayed on the Home Page. This allows someone to go to http://modernsurvivalonline.com and read the last 8 or so posts without going anywhere else.
There is another option….
Many websites such as this one is changing to a format whereby the title of the post along with a short excerpt is displayed….allowing the reader to decide whether or not to read the article. If they

Hello all –
I just wanted to tell everyone “Thank You” for your support. Over the past several months the look of ModernSurvivalOnline has changed several times and I am pretty happy with the current one. I continue to post daily and try to provide quality content. There are many preparedness blogs out there and I appreciate everyone stopping by here and hanging out.

I have mentioned several times that there may be some changes taking place with the site – so just be aware if all of a sudden the site looks “different”. Well, Friday will be the day that most of the changes will be taking place. ModernSurvivalOnline will be up – but at times will look totally odd. Depending upon how it goes – it may take me into Saturday to get things straight.
Site changes on Friday……….
Please have some patience over the next couple of weeks. There may be times when things here just don’t look “quite right”. Due to some formatting problems and technical difficulties – it looks like I am going to have to change the “appearance” theme of the site again.
The last time went very smoothly and I was basically done in a day. We’ll see what happens.
Thanks – Rourke

Hello all –
First off I want to say a very big “Thank You!” to all of you who visit here daily (or so). Thank you! I value your loyalty and comradery.
Over the past few month’s I have been making some changes here at MSO – trying little of this and a little of that. Mostly what I have heard has been negative. Obviously that is not what I am wanting so I am

I posted a blurb about a website/information product today and was overwhelmed with negative responses. For those that read the post and visited the site – you’ll know what I am talking about.
Absolutely the website is one big, giant ad – sure. Just like the infomercials you see on TV – the website tries to draw you in to buy their product. Ever watch a P90X 30 minute infomercial late at night or on

Just a head’s up – between December 22nd and the 31st there will be a few changes happening here. Basically I am going to attempt to change the appearance of the site to something a little more easy on the eyes and user friendly. This is no small task and depending on the exact changes made I will likely be doing significant editing and programming.
During the transition the site will

Hello all – Just a quick note to update you on a few things going on at ModernSurvivalOnline.com. First and foremost…..thanks for your support and visiting. I have two separate mailing lists on my site which I think is far too confusing. One list is for those interested in receiving the MSOnline Newsletter. The other is to receive daily posts in their inbox. I am making a change and going to only one email list.

Every so often I get emails from readers that disagree with something I have written. Not a problem….really. I absolutely have no issue with someone disagreeing and providing a different perspective on a topic. What is unacceptable is when someone comments or emails with an opinion that contains malice, anger, and flat out disrespect.
I am a man. I am an adult. I can take criticism. I do not profess to know everything

Wanted to give a quick update on a few things going on here at ModernSurvivalOnline.
Recently have taken on a few new sponsors including Solutions from Science and Prepper Press.Check ’em out along with the rest of my sponsors. They provide a huge array of preparedness resources and products with high value.
I am targeting April 2nd to start a new project – the MSOnline Preppers Guild. The Guild is a membership “club” which

Hello all –
Over the next several weeks you may see some “odd” things with the appearance of this site. No worries…..I am working on an upcoming project and periodically will be doing some changes.
More on the upcoming project in a few weeks.
Thanks – Rourke

I try to update this site every so often – just to freshen things up once in a while. As life continues to remain busy – finding time to do more than post articles is sometimes difficult.
Recently I made a few changes as well as some additions –
Internet Resource page – added firearm links, alternative news links and more.
Survival & Preparedness Database – Retreat Preparedness page added – video’s, etc. All of
