Survival Movie: ‘Contagion’ released on DVD and Blu-Ray

The movie ‘Contagion’ was recently released on DVD and Blu-Ray. I reviewed this movie when it was originally released in theaters and I highly recommend it.
Here is a summary of the movie:
Contagion is a 2011 medical thriller disaster film directed by Steven Soderbergh. The film has an ensemble cast that includes Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet. Contagion follows the rapid progress of a lethal indirect contact transmission virus (fomite transmission) that kills within days. As the fast-moving pandemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than does the virus itself. As the virus spreads around the world, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart. Their efforts are hindered by a less-than-ethical media sensation who hypes a snake oil as a cure just for money, but plays on fears and collects a large fan base.
As I type this I am watching ‘Contagion’ with my wife. I can see that she is watching and shocked by what is happening. The movie does a great job at showing how germs/disease/bacteria can spread from person-to-person. A pandemic is graphically shown growing and growing until a worldwide epidemic is present. I hope that watching this movie wakes my wife up to the need to prepare and understand why I do what I do.
The movie has its faults. To someone involved in preparedness – many are obvious. Don’t want to give it away but I was able to overlook them and really enjoy the movie.
If you have not seen it – give it a shot.

Just watched it the other night, it wasn’t that bad. Some inconsistencies I believe with how things would have really played out but it did raise my awareness about how I would have handled dealing with the kind of disaster scenario.

My husband and I watched it last week. It was good. I found myself comparing it to Outbreak. I think that this movie did a better job of scaring the crap out of me in terms of society breakdown and rioting and it showed what will happen to people as a whole much better than Outbreak. However in terms of the actual virus, Outbreak still scares me more.

We watched it last week. The reaction and panic of the general population I thought was realistic, however, they left out one major thing, guns. In a SHTF situation like the movie portrayed you will not just have to worry about the sheep who try to steal from others. You will also have to worry about ARMED sheep trying to steal from others.

It was a good movie, but the whole run on food and panic was so underrated it was laughable. The trash in the street was pretty accurate at least. Worth watching, perhaps it did/will get people moving in the right direction

Re: many comments here – one of the most obvious flaws that saw was the power stayed on. BUT – good movie.

I thought it was odd that the show portrayed most sectors of the workforce not showing up for work but apparently the telecommunications and electrical workers decided to go to work.

Contagion was an OK movie.
The main message was: Trust the govt (CDC) to save your life, it’s your only hope. The big hero’s in the movie were CDC govt employees. The sheeple were all dropping like flies, apparently no one was the least bit prepared (except the govt.) The blogger in the movie (who represented the alternative media) turned out to be a villian/con artist.
The street scenes were reasonably accurate, but overall I’d give it a 5 on a scale to 10.
