Russian lawmaker wants to outlaw U.S. dollar…..

Check out the following excerpt from WashingtonTimes.com article published on November 13th –

MOSCOW — Predicting the imminent collapse of the U.S. dollar, a Russian lawmaker submitted a bill to his country’s parliament Wednesday that would ban the use or possession of the American currency.

Mikhail Degtyarev, the lawmaker who proposed the bill, compared the dollar to a Ponzi scheme. He warned that the government would have to bail out Russians holding the U.S. currency if it collapses.

“If the U.S. national debt continues to grow, the collapse of the dollar system will take place in 2017,” said Mr. Degtyarev, a member of the nationalist Liberal Democrat Party who lost in Moscow’s recent mayoral election.

“The countries that will suffer the most will be those that have failed to wean themselves off their dependence on the dollar in time. In light of this, the fact that confidence in the dollar is growing among Russian citizens is extremely dangerous.”

It is amazing that a Russian politician thousands of miles away can see what the vast majority of this country’s own citizens are blind to. What will it take to get the average citizen to wake up, take notice, and take action to stop the degradation of our government, our economy, and our Constitution?

Stay strong folks and stand up for what is right.

  1. The great HL Mencken of the early 20th century said it best about governments: “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins”. Surely we are surrounded by hobgoblins today. I look out my window and wonder.. “will they reach my fence line tonight?”

  2. “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”

If you had read the entire quote you would have been able to answer your own question with ease.

  3. WB9HNV, my apology for the miss quote but are you suggesting that there are no real hobgoblins for which we should worry? I can think of a few I worry about and I suspect they are not imaginary. I worry about the devaluing of the dollar and what it means for my, my kids and grand-kids futures. I worry that somewhere around 100 million Americans are considered to be either “poor” or “near poor”. That approximately 57 percent of all children in the United States are living in homes that are considered to be either “low income” or impoverished. That today, one out of every four workers in the United States brings home wages that are at or below the poverty level. That our school system (as compared to the world) is failing our kids and negatively effecting their potential and future and that the poor and middle class have to fight the establishment bureaucracies for the chance to send their kids to charter and magnet schools. Just look at what our DOJ is doing to the kids in failing Louisiana schools! Look, although many of these issues don’t effect me personally they effect all of our futures. I don’t need to be kicked in the teeth to know the “knockout” game exists and that it hurts people.

The truth is that I could tap on these keys till my fingers bleed listing all the troubling thinks we should be trying to fix and that regardless of what happens I know I and mine will be fine, but my being fine just isn’t good enough.

I’m tired of witnessing in anguished amazement what we have settled for, what we now accept as normal. I’m not accepting it…. not in the least….

  4. I did not suggest anything; indeed I was as clear, slow and plodding as a Voice of America Special English broadcast. You have made a very interesting point in spite of yourself. Imaginary Fear! Doom! Collapse! are not solely the work of governments as can be evidenced on these pages selling pageviews, advertising, and product.

  5. Well folks it appears we have a troll in our midst. If unfamiliar with the term as related to Internet websites a troll is someone who purposely comments in a negative manner just to be negative with no intention to be a useful part of the conversation.

“W” believes us all to be nuts with all these preps and such. We are responding to fear mongering and the reality is we are actually living in a Utopia where it rains gum drops and there is a kitten for every child that never dies.

Unfortunately far too many sit in the same section as “W” looking at what is happening all around us – to us – and remain oblivious and ignorant.

  6. Well, the IMF has warned the USofA to limit QE. The Chinese have also warned us and has downgraded our credit rating with their banks.

In the past a Russian economist predicted that our country could break up into multiple parts based on ldealogical lines.

I do hope that things get better, but I don’t think it will be due to gov’t policy or market manipulation or QE. Those things seem to only kick the can down the road, and have a compounded cost to pay up at a later date. These days it seems there is no end of pain that government won’t defer until it is too big to deal with and they just keep trying to ignore it.

So, all we can do as individuals is to try to be as ready as we can. We have to prepare to feed our families, grow and hunt for food, learn to repair and maintain our equipment and tools without benefit of buying new or inferior replacements.

My grandma used to say “the good lord helps those who help themselves”, which meant that if something needed to be done then I had to do it. The job that needs to be done is not done by magic, or wishing, nor hoping it will get done by itself. However, that seems to be the mentality the takers have and that the government is pushing them to believe.

All we can do, as I said, is be as ready as we can for whatever may come our way. Learn as much as you can, and practice what you learn. Do everything you can now while the cost of mistakes is not potentially fatal. Even if nothing happens, and things continue as they have, we will be better off as people and more self sufficient, which is to our benefit in the long run, anyway.

    • Thank you for your comments CM.

“the good lord helps those who help themselves”….excellent advice however in todays times it seems that the government helps those that do not help themselves.

Oh the good ole days –

  7. First, I am not coming to the defense of WB9, but I have entertained the possibility that all the hyperbole coming out of the conservative think tank is just that, another point of view to achieve an end whatever that may be. There have been predictions for years about the inevitable collapse, EMP and riots in the streets. On the other hand our POTIS would like us to think everything is just fine, I my mind it doesn’t pass the smell test.

I continue to buckle my seat belt, stop at railroad crossing and not point my weapon at anything I do not wish to KILL. WB9, I think you are on the right track, yours will be one less mouth to feed when and if the SHTF.

    • Billy –

Thanks for sharing. I often consider the possibility that my thinking is wrong – that I am on the wrong side of the fence. There is no doubt a substantial propaganda machine on all sides of many issues – including the economy and all aspects most preppers are concerned. I have to look at the evidence, pull from my experiences and knowledge – and make a decision as to what right and wrong.

If we sit on 25 trillion dollars in a few years and we are all living just a wonderful, prosperous life – great! If the US dollar fails and inflation takes over and life in this country becomes very challenging – I will be ready.

      Take care – Rourke

  8. Doubt very seriously that he deleted your post, there has been others that were a lot more blind to the world than you and he did not delete their posts. If it is worth reading try again.

    • Tim –

I absolutely deleted his comment. He is the epitome of an internet troll. He stops by with nothing to add to the discussion. Rather he drops negative comments and snide remarks and adds in with some name calling. I will not allow it.

      Rourke

    • No problem Tim. In the vast majority of cases you would have been 100% correct. I rarely moderate comments – even if they disagree with me.

      Take care and thanks!

  9. In 2003 I met a professor who had been teaching in Russia while waiting for my son to complete his enrolment and we started to talk about the failure of the Russian economy, my thoughts were they went broke before we did and he agreed.
