Recent Supreme Court Firearm Ruling
Many of you may be aware that the Supreme Court ruled on a case on Monday – McDonald v. Chicago.
The court ruled in favor of gun owners rights, and here is the but……The justices split on their judgement 5-4. This means that 4 of the justices voted against the ruling. That is pretty close. For your information – the ruling ruled that the Second Amendment protects the same Constitutional right in the states as it does in Washington, D.C. You may remember that in the 2008 Washington DC case the court ruled for the first time that the Second Amendment was an individual right like the rest of the Bill of Rights.
So, sounds all good right? Wrong……4 of the liberal justices voted against it. With the current administration being able to appoint judges to the Supreme Court for the time being – this is very worrisome for future decisions. In fact – a new justice is getting ready to be appointed as I type – and she is very liberal.
If the make up of the Supreme Court was reversed – the outcome of this judgement most likely would have gone the other way. I suspect that there will be no serious gun control laws passed for the next several years – however I see this change in the largest court of the land having negative future implications on the ability to purchase the firearms and firearm accessories you want.
My advice – get what you want now.
