Random Thoughts………..

Hello all -

It is extremely hot here in the Southeastern US. I have never seen so many days well over 90 degree’s. My garden is pretty much toast. I had planted very early this year and had a record crop. I tried doing a second planting of cucumbers and squash – but they are not surviving the high temps. Possibly I need to add some screening to my garden next year.

My raised bed which is situated next to my house is still doing well. It receives more shade. There are tomatoes, egg plants, peppers, and cucumbers in this garden. I doubt it will last much longer.

Been thinking a lot about money lately. I really need to improve my cash reserves. My family does not have many bills – however I am the main income for my family and although I make a decent living – there is not a lot of disposable income. I could do better than I do though – really need to revamp our lifestyle and have more willpower.

I could probably teach a class on Home Finances – but I just do not practice what I preach nearly at the level I should. My fault – nobody else’s. Some goals need to be set, action items made – and then follow through to make it happen.

Off the cuff – here are a few goals:

• Increase cash savings in local savings to $1000.00 .
• I have one credit card – pay it off
• Payoff the only car payment I have – (scheduled to be paid off May 2011)
• Reduce expenses – become more frugal

Well, time to talk to the family.

Just received a few survival & preparedness books from Amazon.com. Looking forward to reading them – no doubt will provide some reviews here. I do a lot of reading – mostly in the net. Also post a lot on different forums and blogs. I enjoy reading what other people have to say on a lot of topics – sometimes I agree, sometimes I don’t – sometimes I wonder what planet they come from.

I am very concerned for this country. Recent interviews I have done with people  – smart people – that I respect are providing some reality to my concerns. The government is spending way too much money – putting us into debt that I question can ever be paid off. The immigration and border security issues concern me. The threat of terrorism (nuclear?) is ever present. When will the terrorist get “lucky” again?

I am pretty happy with this blog. I am enjoying keeping it up. Unbelievable how many SPAM comments I get. I am looking forward to some upcoming projects – more giveaways/contests, further updates to the Free Download Section, special discounts/free stuff from other websites, and more. I still feel that overall MSOnline is ahead of where I thought it would be at this point.
