New Magazine: REALITY CHECK – Surviving in the Real World

Font Size » Large | Small

I just picked up a copy of REALITY CHECK – Surviving the Real World. This thick full-color magazine is a special edition from American Handgunner. Priced at $9.95 – this is not your typical monthly magazine. Very much showing that survival & preparedness is gaining in popularity by virtue of its publication – the contents are geared towards preparedness from cover to cover.

So – what lie’s inside? Articles include:

  • The Pocket Knife – Why you should carry a knife.
  • Water, Water, Everywhere- All about water storage, filtration, and purification
  • Young Guns – Teaching kids to shoot
  • Rural Protection and Tool-Sense – Firearms to carry when out in the country
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon – title pretty much tell it like it is
  • Lifesaving Modular Kit- Bug out and survival kits……my favorite article
  • Emergency Box – A kit that every vehicle should have….another great article

……..and there are lots more!!

This is an excellent resource and I hope that its success will lead to more periodicals of similar content.

Well worth the $9.95.

Rourke, it looks like a good mag. you said it was a special addition, does this look like a one shot deal or does it look like it might be a regular publication. Either way it is nice that this field is getting some attention.

I think if it is successful it will be a yearly thing.

The way survival & preparedness is becoming more widespread and popular – I wouldn’t be surprised if more magazines were to come out.

    Thanks – Rourke

How does this compare to the other new magazines like from the late Mel tappan’s wife and that other one Complete Survivalist?

Friend of mine signed up for the Complete Survivalist magazine yet still hasn’t seen his copy yet.

Did you learn anything from the magazine or was it filled with what you already knew? I guess my question is should someone who is already a survivalist spend the ten dollars or is this geared more toward someone who is still thinking about it?

There is some good information in it. I especially liked the article related to modular survival kits – good points that I learned from.

Similiar to the old Survive and American Survival Guide. I have not recieved my copy of Complete Survivalist yet.

Overall – a good magazine with a variety of content.
