National Geographic ‘Electronic Armageddon’

“In less than a billionth of a second, the electrical intensity on Earth’s surface would become so hot that microchips would fry, power lines would overload and the electric grid would collapse,” says National Geographic, describing . “Everything with microelectronics in it would stop: your car, your computer, the subway. There would be no electricity.”

What is being described here is in relation to an EMP attack. National Geographic’s ’Electronic Armageddon’ documentary describes in great detail the effects of such an attack on the United States as well as potential methods of protecting your electronics.

It is a very real and grim look at our future should an EMP attack occur.

Personally – I believe an EMP attack is one of the more likely widespread TSHTF scenario’s. Terrorist that want to have the greatest effect possible on the “evil west” would do well with even one high-altitude EMP blast. Just imagine 1/4 of the country suddenly without power, no communications, no transportation – no refrigeration. Talk about widespread panic……
