M1 Carbine – new purchase and Sootch Video
Hi all -
I just lucked out and picked up an old military M1 Carbine along with 6 15-rd magazines. Price – $100. I am thrilled. I have always loved the M1 Carbine since I was a kid. Lightweight, compact, and easy handling. I will provide more info in an upcoming post.
Amazingly – Sootch00 on YouTube just uploaded a video regarding the M1 Carbine.
Here it is…….
By the way – my new M1 is a Winchester.

Congrats on your new purchase! Thanks for the video, I didn’t know a lot about the M1. I shouldn’t have passed on so many good deals over the years, now I know better.

Oh, your not gonna be happy with that. Seriously, why don’t I save you the heartache and give you the $100 for it and you can send it here so I can dispose of it properly. Really. Ok how about $125. No? $150 to take it off your hands my final offer. Look I’m doing you a favor here.
I’ve thought these would make excellent truck guns, small form factor, “decent” wound ballistics (yes, yes, yes it’s not 7.62 Nato or even 5.56 Nato but it’s better than .45 ACP out of a 3-4 inch barrel) and damn tough.
Nice grab, any more still there where you got yours?

$100? You got that for a total steal! Hard used ones are going for at least $400-500 these days. Now finding ammo for it is the big question. Wolf makes a brand that isn’t bad but very dirty. Hopefully that will feed with some 30′s, I’ve fired a M1 and M2 carbine a few times and those 15rd mags go quick. Not as quick with the 30′s. Congrats, I never find deals like that.

The gun is worth about $500 +….the magazines about $90 so I would say you had best check out the serial number with the local police.

Adlocum –
Thought of that……from someone I have known for a long time and it belonged to his grandfather. He wanted someone to have it that would take good care of it.

Heck of a good deal! I had an Iver Johnson commercial one for a number of years and wish I never got rid of it. I had a Choate Machine & Tool stock on it. I may still have a mag or two lying around. If I stumble across them, I’ll send ‘em your way.

Heck of a deal……more like a steal! M-1 30 cal is about as fine a weapon as any…I wouldnt feel shortchanged if I found myself stuck with one and had to depend on it to survive! I used to be an Army/Navy dealer,I have some of the M1 “accessories” for when I find a deal on a good rifle.

Rourke,
Great video, I purchased a M1 Carbine about 20 years ago for 115.00. Its the most reliable gun I have ever owned. Have it ready with my B.O.B. The prices for these have gone through the roof, was at a local gun show in Memphis, rough condition shooters were going for 500.00. Guess I spent my money well…
Thanks

My jaw is still on the floor……………..$100.00 bucks!!!!! wow that is the deal of a lifetime. M1 carbine is one of my top three favorite rifle/carbine. It’s right behind the M14 and M4. I have a WW2 Winchester. It’s my wife SHTF main weapon. But the thing with the M1 is ammo availability and parts come TIOTWAWKI. Ammo is spendy when you can find it, it won’t be on small town sporting good shelves. Also, spare parts not on your local gun shop shelves. So stock up now on both.
