It is time……….

I believe we are standing at the top of a great mountain…….and about to fall over the edge. It will take a while to reach the bottom…but the path down will be bumpy and as we get closer – we will pick up speed.

Of course – I am using the above as an analogy for our economy today. I, like many others, just do not see the leadership in Washington that can make the correct decisions to lead our way to safety. This country has been mislead for many years – with powerful politicians and corporations making laws that primarily benefit…….powerful politicians and corporations. A court-backed liberal minority has reduced society to a feeble reflection of what this great nation used to be.

You know it’s bad when schools can’t hang a Merry Christmas sign at a public school and organizations are taking states to court to remove the Ten Commandments from the front lawns of State Houses. It’s not getting any better either.

Well – back to the economy. I am not going to quote all kinds of facts and figures – other sites can do that much better than me. The bottom line is our debt continues to grow – even with the new Congressional bill passed. It really did nothing to reduce debt in the future – just raise it a little slower. The bottom line is – the debt continues to go up and the Federal Reserve continues to print money. With the S&P downgrading the US Credit Rating – it will do nothing but cost the us more money. This will mean more strain on our weakening economy. Poor decisions made by politicians that have their and the interest of the big corporations and banks in mind have lead us to where we are today.

So…….. it is time.

It is time to sure up your preparations and get things in order. No one knows when the collapse may come- but I for one believe that it is inevitable. It could be a year – maybe five. Regardless – the situation in this country is not improving. Take the appropriate steps to prepare now. Food, water, weapons, medical supplies, power, light, etc. – look at your current inventory and see where improvement is needed.

If there is some miracle that solves this economic crisis- great. But….if not – then the preps made today very well might save yourself and your family tomorrow.

Take care -

Rourke

Amen on all you’ve said. The wife and I are putting the finishing touches on our preps…..last food preps coming in this week, topping off 4 months of stored water, enough ammo and weapons for defense(hopefully), the final order for medical supplies coming in the next week and the final order of misc. survival items should arrive next week. I don’t have a crystal ball and have never claimed to see into the future, rather I simply listen to my gut and it’s telling me to hunker down and put your tray tables in their upright and locked position…..simply put, get ready for there’s a bad moon rising!!

I’m not making this comment with the intention of trying to make myself sound more intelligent then you, because I’m not. Your statements and opinions would be more credible if you used spell check and proper grammar.
    My apologies for any misunderstandings.

I totally agree with you Rourke. Our politicians are in this for themselves. I for one am making sure that I have all I feel I will need to survive the coming economic tsunami. Sadly we sat by and watched it happen to us and did nothing to stop it.

Good article, I just wish I could get more of my family to heed the warning signs.

Rourke – I could not agree with you more. Kind of scary

We are approaching the storm and hurricane season in North America. That coupled with an unstable planet and a failing economy are a recipe for distress and disaster in these coming months. Those that are not prepared – or have not started – are scared and their fear may turn to anger toward those of us that are ready.

I totally agree with Rourke and would like to add just one thing: encourage your families and loved ones to start prepping in some small way. Talk to them is a reasonable manner – not condescending – and help prepare their mind for what is coming. They may not listen but at least you will have the satisfaction of knowing you tried.

Amen – We had a family meeting discussing the vary things you mentioned. We have escalated our prepping and analizing our situation looking for weeknesses, needs and strengths. Catogorizing needs into Short, Med, long term goals. Assessing stratigic needs that we need right now. Building a poormans version of the Berky water system by purchasing multiple D-5000 Daulton water filters and using 5 gal buckets and buying a spigot off ebay, I save my self a $100 or so, that I can redirect at other needs

    Rourke,

Back in 1971, when the U.S. government abandoned the gold standard, opting instead for a fiat currrency, THAT was the beginning of the end for the American way of life! Up until that point, we had to play by the rules; rules that said our paper money was valued only by a standard that was in direct realtion to the fixed price of gold. Sadly, those days and that particular standard is long gone, never to be seen again.

Yes, we are on the brink of financial ruin, so we shouldn’t be expecting any miracles anytime soon–or ever, for that matter! Tomorrow? Three years? Five? Who knows when? At the end of the day we (Preppers) may be considered by the rank-and-file Joe as alarmists, or worse. But when the economy finally and inevitably does come crashing down, we will, at the very least, have a fighting chance at survival.

    Great post!

Who cares what S&P does, or Moody’s. The real story is that China, the folks that actually lend us the money downgraded us months ago. They down graded us again after the latest congressional farce. China now rates our debt a “A”. Interestingly S&P rates China as “AA+”, the same as they rate the U.S. Gee Wally, I wonder how that works? I don’t know if the S&P or any of the other credit rating agencies are still relavent, but I am getting ready and teaching those willing to listen. Thanks for all you do Rourke, you make a big difference.

3rdman, thats some funny stuff. But on a more serious note.

If you can and are still preparing… you are lucky. For some it’s to late, the economic collapse is already here. With real unemployment at around 17%, some have long ago lost their jobs….. their homes, exhausted their unemployment benefits and exhausted all hope. Just under 50 million are using food stamps and over the next few months millions more will have used up their unemployment extensions. States are raising taxes and fees and cutting services and the Federal Government borrows 42 cents of every dollar it spends. The balance sheet continues to get more unbalanced. If you have any disposable income…. invest it in red ink. Check that: Wall Street is on a roller coaster ride through hell. It would be hard to pick but perhaps the most outrageous contributing factor in all of this is the average citizen. The masses, for a multitude of reasons don’t see the economy approaching a cliff, Washington’s collective foot is floored and they ain’t leaving no skid marks. My guess is that Preppers make up a rather small percentage of the overall population. Which means that when the downfall we are in NOW really starts picking up speed the vast majority will be (to say the least) caught of guard. Then things really get ugly.
Rourke of course is right… it’s time…. past time really. I wish I was more prepared. There may not be much time left. Although I’m not sure now just how prepared anyone will be for the shit storm that’s heading our way.
