It is a sad day…….

Font Size » Large | Small

I was just over at IfItHitsTheFan.com and found out that Ron Hood has passed away.

I had recently discovered him a few months ago. I ordered the 4 issues of Survival Quarterly magazine that he and his wife published (which were awesome – highly recommended). From reading the magazine, listening to his guest spots on The Survivalist Podcast, as well as a video he was in on YouTube – this guy was hilarious. What a sense of humor. Of course – he had incredible survival knowledge.

If you know of Ron – you will no doubt be saddened by this news.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Rourke

I had heard of his passing a couple of days ago. Very sad for his family. I too watched his videos on youtube and listened to several interviews on The Survival Podacast. The Prepping/Survial community has lost a truly talented man whose skills, knowledge and experience are damn near impossible to replace.

    He will be truly missed.

Ron was certainly one of a kind. Intelligent, adaptable and sort of a father figure of the current generation of survivalists. He always struck me as a genuinely honorable man, who never placed himself above or apart from anyone who was smart enough to return the respect. He taught me so many things through his video’s and phone conversations. It hit me like a brick to learn of his passing. It also brought home an epiphany that should be remembered, in light of Ron Hood’s life and death. That being that we practice survival training and lifestyles not to pursue any false sense of immortality but mainly because it allows us to be the sort of men we aspire to be and are. Ron Hood was that sort of man. I’m glad so many of us had the chance to enrich our lives through his. RIP brother!
