Interview: YouTube’s……theroadwarri0r
I am very pleased to present this interview with theroadwarrior. theroadwarrior has a very popular presence on YouTube with almost 4000 subscribers. I have been watching his video’s for the past year or so – and find them entertaining as well as providing valuable knowledge. His concern over the future of this country and potential threat mirrors my own. I sent him a message a few weeks ago to see if he would be willing to do a written interview – and I was very excited when he accepted.
On his YouTube Channel he provides the following description:
It’s time to take the redpill.
This channel explores the possibility and implications of a collapse scenario and also takes a look at gear you might find useful in the event of the worst-case-scenario (mohawk clad motorcycle gangs roaming the streets).
The indications and warnings are all around us. We might be headed in the direction of economic collapse. Just like the old saying goes, “hope for the best but plan for the worst.”
theroadwarri0r also maintains a blog that often is associated with his video’s. It can be found at www.SurvivalThinkTank.com.
Rourke: Your YouTube video’s are great – What motivated you to start putting video’s on YouTube?
RW: I felt that I had knowledge that would serve the general public. As a military officer, the taxpayer paid for my survival training and I felt that it would be nice to put some of that information out there for some of you all to use in the event of the worst case scenario.
Rourke: How did you get interested in survival & preparedness?
RW: As a country boy from rural Arkansas, survival and preparedness was a way of life. My high school graduating class had 30 people in it. I’m a small town guy. After joining the military and receiving formal survival training, my interest in survival and preparedness intensified.
Rourke: Survivalism and Preparedness is becoming more “mainstream”. Just over the last year I have seen numerous articles and news reports on “regular” people that are storing food and buying firearms. Why do you think this is?
RW:I think the populous as a collective knows that tribulation and travails may be on the horizon. The indicators are all over both the mainstream (CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc.) news and the alternative (Infowars.com, blacklistednews.com, survivalblog.com, etc.) news nodes. All anyone needs to do is open their eyes to the signs of a possible coming collapse of the United States financial system. Gold, silver, coffee, sugar, and many other commodities are showing signs that inflation is upon us right now. The recent news that the Federal Reserve will institute Quantitative Easing 2 (QE2) at the amount of at least 600 billion is another indicator that we are in trouble. QE1 was the Fed’s silver bullet to save us, QE2 may be the coffin nail.
Rourke: There is a lot of danger in the world today – from what do you see is the most likely “major” event that could create a survival situation – in the short term as well as long term?
RW: Short-term catalysts
Some of the most likely events that could be a catalyst for survival situations in the short term include but are not limited to: Iran mining (closing) the Straits of Hormuz, effectively causing the cost of oil to skyrocket. How would the average Joe six-pack react to eight dollar per gallon gas? How about everyone else that must pay higher prices across the board for all items because everything they own arrived on an eighteen wheel tractor trailer running on dead dinosaurs (diesel fuel)?
Another possibility is a Mumbai style terrorist attack. The United States economy is roughly 70% consumer based. If we the consumer experience a coordinated assault on the desire and confidence to spend via small arms terror attacks in shopping malls, our economy could likely collapse as a result. The DC sniper affected the local economy in the DC area during his reign of terror. Imagine what a group of real terrorist with hunting rifles could do if multiple and coordinated Mumbai style shopping center attacks were initiated? Complete economic shutdown–Real scary stuff. This is one reason why so-called gun free zones are a joke, but I digress.
Another possibility that might be a short term catalyst for a survival type situation could be loss of confidence in the U.S. financial system or the U.S. Dollar. No one knows when confidence in the dollar might be lost but it could happen very quickly, more quickly than you might think as you read this now. Hyperinflation could likely be an unfortunate result. Those not holding tangibles or precious metals at the time that most dump their dollar holdings would likely be financially decimated by this. The worst part is that all three of these short term scenarios could happen at any time without warning. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Long-term catalysts
EMP might be a real threat in the medium to long term. I don’t forecast an EMP weapon being deployed against the U.S. in the near term (next 3 years) but I do see this as one of the great equalizers that the enemies of the U.S. would like to employ in the future. This is definitely a threat to respect and to prepare for, but I’d focus on near term threats before engaging this problem. Fighting the EMP threat from an urban survivalist standpoint requires time, research and independent thought. There is a lot of information floating around about EMP shielding, some of it out right false.
The Great Dragon. China is an emerging industrial, economic and military power and could pose a serious threat to U.S. national security in the long term. Simply Google the words ‘rare earth metal and China’ and you’ll find one reason in current events why I state this. There are hundreds of other reasons that I assess our “most favored trade partner” will not always be on call to sell us cheap imports and drive our unsustainable consumer based economy.
Rourke: If there is something that is typically overlooked by most involved in preparedness – What do you think that may be?
RW: Knowledge, learning and practice. These are the most often overlooked critical parts of survival. Food, water, firearms and ammunition will not ensure your survival alone. You must constantly learn and acquire critical knowledge to survive. How many of you know how to can food? What about shoe a horse? What about making that horse shoe using your blacksmith skills and a piece of car spring?
Rourke: What role do you feel firearms play in survival & preparedness?
RW:Firearms are key role but not the top role. You must have the ability to defend yourself in a collapse scenario. Plan for a “Blackhawk Down” problem set but hope for the best.
Rourke: Do you have an opinion on our current economic situation? Do you feel like it is getting better?
RW:No, it’s getting worse. You only need to open your window shades and see the world with your own eyes to know this. Put down your mainstream news periscope and dive your submarine into the world of alternative news for a while. I challenge all of you to do this. It’s time to take the redpill.
Rourke: Is there anything you can tell us about your “Roadwarrior Index” that appears at the beginning of your video’s?
RW: The Roadwarri0r index is a simple index that depicts how close we might be to riots in the streets and a full on collapse scenario. Right now we are in the deep orange on the RWI. Not where I want to be.
Rourke: Looking at your name and the beginning of your video’s – am I safe to assume that you are a fan of the movie classic “The Roadwarrior”?
RW:Sure, who doesn’t like The Roadwarrior? I just hope none of us ever have to experience a Mad Max life for real.
Rourke: Is there anyting that you would like our readers to know about theroadwarri0r
RW:Who is John Galt?
Rourke: Thank you so much.
