Hurricane Katrina
I recently watched a television show I DVR’d from the History Channel about Hurricane Katrina and the unbelievable conditions that were left after the storm. Although just a few years ago – the show brought back memories of watching the news all day, every day looking for updates. The hurricane obviously knocked out power – as well it was truly “TEOTWAWKI” for thousands of people in the New Orleans area.
This disaster demonstrated so well the need to prepare for “bad times” as well as the absolute proof that you cannot rely on the government to come to your rescue. So much suffering could have been adverted if those in the path of Katrina had all been survivalists and prepared for such an event. Of course – that was and is not totally realistic.
It is so easy to get caught up in the day to day business of life dealing with the now – and forget what might happen tomorrow. I often watch apocalyptic movies such as Red Dawn, Day After Tomorrow, Jericho, Terminator, etc. to “stay in the mood”.
Someday should something occur that turns you and your family’s life upside down – you will not want to have that feeling of regret if you strayed off course and failed to prepare.
Take care -
