Great weekend……………
Not a whole lot going on this Memorial Day weekend.
Pretty much just trying to relax and de-stress. Spending time with the family, working on my websites, and one of my favorite things……picking stuff from my garden. I pulled probally 20-25 pounds of cucumbers, zuchinni, and summer squash. Also harvasted a few potatoes from buckets.
Bought a new issue of Mothers Earth News – which I thoroughly enjoy every 2 months.
Put some thoughts into emergency power. The modern utilities near my home have done well through some significant winter storms. The longest power outage experienced for any reason has been around 12 hours(at least in the past 6-7 years). It was more a nuicensethan anything else. Like the rest of my preparedness targets – my goal is to be ready for a long term lack of utility services. Time frame? I am talking months without power. I will be approaching my goal in steps. Emergency power is something that I am lacking. My brother lives down the street and he has a full size generator capable of powering his entire home. My first step to be able to provide some power will be to build a home made generator used to charge a couple of marine batteries hooked to an inverter. Once I get to building this contraption – I will post pictures or a video.
I also watched the movie The Road. Very interesting movie and severly apocolyptic in its theme. I have to say it was the most depressing and sad movie I have ever seen. If you have kids – let yourself be warned it can be disturbing. Would I recommend it? Yes. It is disturbing but very thought provoking getting you thinking of what is possible after a World Ending Event (W.E.E.) For a few recommended “survival” movies – check out my Movies Download Page.

Thats it for now.
