Gardening Update: Preparing for the Fall
This past year was one of my best for gardening.
Most all my plans have past besides a few tomato plants, a couple of peppers, and one lonely egg plant. My main garden has been tilled up, my raised garden bed is where the remaining plants are, and the second raised bed is almost complete.
Time to plan a fall garden……..
I have never planted a fall garden before and feel that I need the experience to add to my gardening skills. I am not expecting a huge success – just a lot of learning.
In my area – I hope to grow the following:
- Beans, snap
- Beets
- Carrots
- Garlic
- Lettuce
- Potatoes (going to try a few)
- Radish
At my local Farmers Exchange I am going to talk to some experienced gardeners for tips on what to grow and how to do it. Hoping to use my 2nd raised bed – it need to be finished in the next couple of weeks.
Survival Gardening: I often post about gardening – and for some very good reasons. In today’s severe economic conditions people are counting their penny’s and stretching their dollars as far as possible. Spending a few dollars on seeds, some fertilizer – and then throw in some sweat….can save you quite a bit of money. Should a significant “TSHTF” event occur – gardening will become important as no matter how much food you store – it will run out eventually.
The time to develop gardening skills is now.
