From the Desk of John Rourke – December 21st, 2015

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I started ModernSurvivalOnline.com several years ago to connect with likeminded people. The tag I have used since its inception has been “Thoughts on Survival and the World Today”. I believe it has been accurate. Every so often I receive an email from someone complaining about talking politics, or even my personal life as they expect me to provide them preparedness information and that’s all. As I have said many times it is my website and I will post whatever I want. I am taking my time and my money to provide content and keep it going.

Over the next week I have a few things going on and if willing would appreciate your prayers to provide me the wisdom and clarity to make good decisions.  I have an opportunity to fund a land purchase. This land would be well in the country and would eventually be set up as my family’s retreat.  Getting the land is the first step and I should know something within the next 10-14 days.

This is an immensely tough decision and does not go without risk. It is also extremely exciting. Due to this project my time is going to be short thus posting during this time will be at a minimum.

I will be checking emails and will still post periodically. Appreciate your understanding.

Take care all –

Rourke

  1. Rourke- You are in my prayers for a
positive purchase. If the Lord wishes this for you then the pieces will fit together.
Make sure you have a good source of water.
Have a Blessed and,Merry Christmas With hugs and prayers and gratitude for all you do for us.
    Arlene and family

  2. our prayers are with you Rourke. We moved to the country 40 years ago and it was the best thing we have ever done.
some days are good – some are better but never none any worse.
    good luck –

  3. Excited to hear you have this opportunity Rourke-will be lifting you up before our Lord God….He is not only with you on this journey, He planned each step on the way…..waiting to hear your updates.
As everyone here celebrates this holy season with family and friends, be safe travelling ! Have a wonderful Christmas all !

  4. If it’s part of His plan, God will bless it. Sounds like a joint deal–let us know how you worked out the details. Are you doing it through a land trust to induce some anonymity?

  5. May God bless you in this decision. I believe in prayer and as several have said already, if it is God’s Will for you then it will happen. Will also send up prayers for you.

It seems that when I first started prepping, there was a sense of urgency so I got busy and put away a lot of stuff including buying some land and as of late I don’t “feel” the urgency although I see what is happening around us which supports the need for what I have already done. I am in need of all your readers prayers and will certainly pray for all of you to know the “next step” in prepardness.

  6. Rourke, I agree that it’s your site and you can do what you will. While I don’t agree with all your policies or positions, I still keep your site at or near the top of my daily reading list. Best wishes on the land purchase and Merry Christmas!

  7. Have you researched all the things like taxes, utilities, availability to contractor’s, (even checking the BBB for complaints against them)? Depth of average water wells etc? Are the neighbors prone to hoarding rusted hulks/junk or have unkept yards? Prayer is of course important but do not overlook worldly things.

You have a good site, and you likely have done the necessary research, IIRC you have been looking for another place, remember to not let urgency make or hurry a bad decision, use all of God’s gift’s 😉 .

  8. Hates gonna hate man .. ignore them .. I always ask myself if it is true, and if so is that what I want.. If the answer to both is yes, it’s their problem not mine. If either one in No .. then I change it as I see fit until they are both yes.

    Same goes for the land.
I always look out for my friends, so you have my thoughts and prayers.
If you have ever heard a statement like “All are called, not all are listening, and few are qualified that listen. You will become what you need to be, if you are listening”..

Land is good, cuz they aren’t making any new land .. and really it is so much as a legacy, the potential and possibilities makes us nervous. You are up to the task, believe it. Just relax and done’t let the “noise” of acquisition get in the way of your listening. If you can’t place a finger on what is wrong, it’s just nerves. If it’s too hard maybe it’s not the right thing. But if you can envision feeling relieved and at peace after signing. Then sign and turn the page. You did the right thing. Same goes if you don’t sign.

    good luck John.

  9. You got it! Prayers forthcoming…among many decisions. Peace…you must “have a peace” about the decision. Not talking about symantecs of working out the finances or what not. I mean, a peace about making this purchase. The rest will fall into place.

  10. I wish the best for you, and with Gods help, you’ll make the right decision. My wife and I along with our daughter, our son-in-law, and our two grandsons moved to Tennessee two years ago on 23 acres and we love it. Have a Merry Christmas and God bless you and yours.

  11. Fred C You have my prayers. Through the many years of prepping I have found that some times I am
feeling much more urgent then at other times. Many factors are involved in this for me- time,$,preps that we already have,
current events, weather etc. Right now the times seem very urgent to me and yet I feel at ease especially because I am into Advent and Christmas and trying to focus on the blessings of this season but always vigilant for the terrorists lurking …
praying hard …. God bless. Arlene

  12. Thank you Arlene both for the response and the prayers. This is a great season we are in so everyone remember the Reason for the season! Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year.

Thanks to John for providing this great forum.

  13. You look like you getting the land buddy? 🙂
I’m excited for you bro, this has been a dream of mine as well! Keep me up to date, I can’t buy my land right now so I can vicariously live through your experience!
