Evaluating goals
I am constantly reevaluating my goals – both professionally and personally.
My goals for survival & preparedness are no different. Honestly – it has been awhile since I have sat down and really thought about things that I need to get, things I need to do, and things I need to check. I have been pretty busy lately with normal “life stuff” as well as trying to keep up with this blog. So – over the past several days I got out my trusty favorite pen and yellow college ruled pad of paper and did some brainstorming.
This is what I came up with: Goal’s are for rest of 2010.
Gardening -
- Complete 2nd raised bed by filling with top soil/composted cow manure
- Plan fall garden – what crops to plant, when to plant them, and which garden
- Build 3rd raised bed garden in shaded area in back of property
- Till in composted cow manure and top soil into 1st raised bed garden once it has passed by
Food Storage -
- Buy 2 more Cansolidators from Shelf Reliance
- Create 2nd food storage location in house in order to increase storage capability
- Increase “meat” products in storage by 20 cans/etc.
- Increase “fruit” products in storage by 30 cans
- Add 6 cases of spring water (bottles) to inventory
Defensive Items -
- Purchase stock Ruger 10/22 for PROJECT: Ruger 10/22
- Purchase tactical vest
Medical/First Aid -
- Store 4 more bottles of Insulin
- Store 5 more boxes of test strips
- Store 1 more box of syringes
Financial Preparedness -
- Stash $250 in cash
- Stash $10.00 in nickles
Other -
- Store 10 small propane bottle
- Buy an extra pair of prescription glasses
Planning your survival “to do’s” is important to make sure that your survival system is developed as efficiently and quickly as possible. This is my list and yours may be totally different. I have to plan to keep things going in the right direction – I just cannot function going through life by the “seat of my pants”. Once certain targeted goals are reached and obtained – or changed – I move on and plan for tomorrow.
Well – need to try to go get something accomplished.
Take care all -
Rourke

Why $10 in nickels? Just curious.

Ho Lee Chit. I just realized that I don’t have a backup pair of glasses! I usually keep my inner nerd secret and just wear contacts in public. Wow, so thanks for this. Also, what’s up with the nickles?
By Rourke, August 23, 2010 @ 8:28 pm
SurvivalChick – The nickles are supposed to be a hedge against inflation.
The deal is that should inflation take off – the raw material value of the metals that make up a nickles (copper and nickle) will increase over the .05 cents the nickel is valued at.
There is also talk that the government will change the nickel to a cheaper material.
Probally should do a post about this.
Thanks – Rourke
PS – I read your blog!

If you are going to plant a garden for fall of this year, most of it needs to be in the ground now! I did just start lettuce but my green beans, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, carrots, etc. are in the ground already. You can still do onions, etc.
