Economy and Recent World Events
Over the past several months I have heard what is supposed to be a lot of good news about the economy. I just don’t buy it.
I am not an economic expert – but I still see bad times ahead and a possible second phase to this economic crisis. Just last week Obama stands in front of a bunch of reporters and announces great news – that the unemployment rate fell by .2% . When you look at the numbers it is a bunch of crap.
Supposedly there was a net increase in jobs of some 431,000 jobs in May. That is a massive amount of jobs statistically. In fact – that number is the highest in about a decade. Look further. Out of the 431,000 jobs – 411,000 of them were government sponsored (mostly from the Census). That’s not good news! Someone has to pay the salaries of those government jobs as the taxes that each of those workers pay does not match what they earn. That someone is me and you. That in my estimation makes the overall job news negative.
Am I missing something?
The government has spent trillions worldwide to trigger an economic recovery – and we continue to decline. While this country continues to have businesses laying off, reducing benefits, freezing wages, and trying to do more with less – the government is sending billions of dollars overseas helping others….such as Greece. Now – I am all for being a good neighbor but damn!!! How about we place a greater emphasis on helping our American family first?
You do not hear much about it on the mainstream news channels – but it seems likes taxes are going up all the time. Local school systems across the country are struggling because they spent money before they had it and planned on being able to tap into a growing stream of tax revenue that just didn’t happen. Well, after all – it is for the children – so pay up. Just as an example – many area’s are raising property taxes while the value of our property has declined. Also many area’s are being to charge a fee to go to school!! (what the hell are my tax dollas for?) Some of these taxes are disguised as “fees’ – still a tax just by another name. Raising taxes in a recession – just plain stupid.
It seems almost like a conspiracy the way the mainstream media portrays this “economic recovery.” There is so much negative news going on and much of it does not get the attention it deserves. Look at the confrontation between North Korea and South Korea. That is a stick of dynamite that is just waiting to go off. The oil spill and what I consider a lack of response from anyone I believe is going to turn out to be much more serious than anyone is thinking. The environment is going to take a hit that will take decades to recover from – and it is going to effect more than just those that live in the Gulf. The ridiculous situation at the border between Mexico and the United States is much more serious than many report. I know there are many hard working well-meaning illegals – but what about those that are not? How many terrorist sleeper cells are currently in this country due to that porous border? It is not that these issues are not reported – they are under-reported!
Guess I have to vent once in a while. Seems like there is not a lot of common snse anymore.
Take care all -
