Browsing through different products on Amazon I came across The Survival Template and after reading the description I decided to order it.  Written by John Heatherly, the book takes a very methodical and organized look at preparedness as well as life in general.

The author takes the reader through a systematic approach of writing down goals along with the steps required to accomplish said goals. Time periods for goal planning are explorer from 24 hours through several years. Mr. Heatherly references prisoner-of-war and other survival situations to promote examples of the relationship between survival and goal setting.

This will be a short review for a short book (only 70 pages). One of the most unique books I have ever read for this genre. Is it worth the purchase? For me – it was not. Why? Through my job I have attended many classes, seminars, and read books on goal setting and getting things done. So, I was already familiar with most of what this book prescribes.

Will reading this book be of any value to you? Depends. If you don’t have the background such that I have described then it may prove extremely valuable. I use goal setting and task creation very often to stay productive. If you do not – this book may prove very beneficial.

For a current price of $6.99 for the paperback version and $2.99 for the Kindle version – very inexpensive.

Time to go set some goals.

  1. Hello, and thank you for the honest, and fair, review of The Survival Template. You are correct, an accomplished goal-setter likely has their own system in place and may not choose to use the techniques described in the book. I will say this though: I learned many of these techniques years ago, and had success with them. Occasionally I would abandon the techniques and lose some success and then have to start all over again. So for me, it helps to constantly return to the basics in an effort to review and improve.

Thank you again. Your review and your site both indicate that you know what you are talking about. I really appreciate it and will return to your page often!
