A Few Random Thoughts……..
A few random thoughts………
- Went shooting last week- taking my Stag AR and S&W M&P9. Haven’t been in awhile and needed the practice. Strangest thing – I have always been able to shoot handguns with both hands – but not very well with my left (I am left-handed). I shot left-handed and found that for whatever reason – it seemed very comfortable for me. Target acquisition was quicker. Guess it has been awhile since I tried shooting left-handed – with a pistol.
- Planted some stuff in my garden for the fall. Might be too late – but the growing season here in the Southeast can be pretty long. This has been the hottest summer I have ever seen – so I am thinking i t might continue. My grass is pretty much toast from the heat. Honestly – I hope cool weather comes soon – I am looking forward to the fall.
- I have been seriously eyeing the Smith & Wesson M&P15-22 .22LR semi-auto. I love the AR platform – and I love .22LR’s. Running around $500 – and being able to buy the 25-rd factory magazines for around $20 or so – not too bad. Priorities…..priorities……..priorities……
- Looking for a few ”news helpers” or “reports at large” to help find the best valid articles related to threats to…well….all of us. From asteroids to economic issues – I struggle finding time to support the blog in that manner. If you would like to help – please feel free to send links to news articles to my email address – emergencycd@gmail.com.
- Within the next couple of weeks I am going to be organizing my supplies specifically geared towards bugging out. I have always, and continue to plan to “bug in” in the event TSHTF. As I have been reading Scott Williams’ BUG OUT – my mind is beginning to realize that bugging out may be a valid option that I need to consider….and prepare for. I will post here as I make progress.
- There are some really good coupons that have been coming out and will be coming out. Great time to start buying papers and cutting coupons. A lot of money can be saved.
- I have been thinking more about buying silver- and I just can’t see the logic – at least for me and my situation. I think precious metals are fine if you are in a position where you can “invest” disposable income. For me – my income needs to go elsewhere. I am in no way saying that buying precious metals is a bad thing – like I said I have been thinking about it. For myself – if I were to get involved with precious metals – it would be silver due to cheaper prices. Precious metals are a good thing to have as a response to possible inflation.
- I am very hopeful that this next round of elections in November will create the real “change” this country is needing. I am pretty tired of the bickering, the politics, the bullsh_t in government. I am a conservative. I believe this is the greatest country on this planet – but is quickly going downhill. I am also someone that does not see a whole lot of grey in matters – I see right and wrong, hot and cold, on and off, etc. Decision making in government should not be that difficult. You will never make everyone happy – but logic and what is best for the majority should come into play. I could go on and on…..
That’s it for now -
Take care all -

I’d buy silver before I bought that $500 toy that is the M4 looking .22. Silver could end up being a great investment (it already is if you bought it at $6), or just use it as a hedge or barter tool. With $500 you could currently get 22 or so ounces of silver. You could do either 1 ounce coins or pre ’65 quarters and dimes. I try and buy silver in $500 batches from apmex dot com a couple times a year. Just try and scrape together a little extra money each month and it can be done. I don’t have a ton of money either, but I believe in getting something if the price is right, and silver’s worth it. If you really want an autoloading .22 rifle get a Marlin or a Ruger. 150-200 bucks.
By the way I got the Kobra, thanks. It looks good. I have a Saiga .223 that I’ll be putting it on, but I first need to get a mount for it.

You know Patrick – that is a very good point. I can’t shoot the silver or have as much fun with it – but certainly a thought.
I have a Ruger 10/22 now – and plan to get another. I am just a gun nut like many others.
I will check out that website – thanks!

I was also looking to get the S&W 22 AR until I fired a friends CMMG .22LR Conversion kit. It ran awesome with the 25rd Blackdog mags and a couple months later CDNNSports had them on sale for $148-ish, it works fantastic in my M-4 Clone and now I have 2 calibers for 1 rifle. I still love my 10/22 but now I can do more training with the M4 clone and if I run out of 5.56, I can switch to .22.
Silver has always been the poor mans gold, but I look at it as something not to barter with post-tshtf, but something to use to cash in once a new currency comes back into use. If that makes any sense.
